For years, with the development strategy priorities on “control of farms”, Yili Group has always been devoted to making huge investments in farm infrastructures. As a result, it has become the first Chinese dairy producer to have a network of dairy farms spread all across China.
At present, Yili is the only dairy product producer that possesses three major dairy farms in Tianshan of Xinjiang, Hulunbeier and Xilinguole of Inner Mongolia. In addition, it has the largest high-quality dairy farm in China and many other top-quality farms.
On top of this, in the coming years, Yili will push forward the establishment of dairy farms that vary in size. On May 25, 2009, a few months after Yili provided the best service for the world-astounding Beijing Olympics, the dairy producer went into partnership with the 2010 Shanghai World Expo depending on its overall competitive advantages, including trustworthy quality, widest distribution network, outstanding & innovative technology, good enterprise profile for social responsibility. It is the sole dairy producer that met the World Expo standards and provided dairy products for the Shanghai World Expo.
During the Shanghai World Expo, Yili provided world-class dairy products for 73 million visitors from all parts of the world. The exclusive Yili dairy products for the World Expo,including liquid milk, milk beverages, yogurt, ice cream and milk powder, won great reputation from local and overseas visitors.
On the Expo Site, thousands of local and overseas visitors, including special groups of people, were deeply enriched by the splendor, humanism and greenness of Expo from the sincere and considerate services of Yili Group. These services include the Life & Sunshine Pavilion, the first of its kind specially designed for the disabled, the Happy Bay--an entertainment garden targeting at children, and the Mum & Baby Service Center scattered at each corner of the venue of Expo 2010 Shanghai.

Build Chinese Nutrition by depending on research
Yili always values the power of science and research so it has set up the first Dairy Industry Research Institute in China in cooperation with other professional institutions. It has also taken the lead to set up three-layer R&D system in the industry and hundreds of millions of RMB has been invested for new product development。
Yili has brought independent R&D to the Chinese dairy industry. After 4 years of research, Yili launched the Yili Shu Hua Low-lactose Nutrition Milk, the first milk tailored for lactose-intolerant Asian consumers, and Yili Satine Organic Milk, the first of its kind in China with the “pure natural quality” in European standards. But even more noteworthy is that together with several local and overseas nutrition organs, an in-depth research project was conducted on Chinese breast milk and the first Chinese breast milk databank was established.  The research results have given rise to Jin Ling Guan Infant Formula. Afterwards, Yili continued to work with experts and founded the Mother & Infant Nutrition Research Center at the end of 2009. Subsequently, the White Paper of the Chinese Breast Milk Research, which is the first of its kind in China, was released. Since then, the Chinese dairy industry has ushered in systematic and regulated research on the Chinese mother & infant nutrition. Yili has also conducted China’s first clinical research in yogurt based on its Chang Qing products. The research has won the gold prize for Innovative Dairy Product with the Best Performance awarded by the International Dairy Federation (IDF) in 2010.

In 2010, the average comprehensive energy consumption for each ton of Yili products was reduced by 6.79% compared with that in 2009. 62,000 tons of carbon dioxide reduction was also seen in 2010.
Yili is the first Chinese dairy producer that explores and uses renewable packaging materials providing consumers with healthy and organic dairy products. At present, the packaging materials Yili Group adopts are certified by FSC. Its major packaging raw materials come from forests with strict eco management. Yili endeavors to promote the use of green packaging materials in Chinese dairy industry in order to preserve forests and save the environment.
Yili has also adopted a seamless GPS tracing system that ensures the fundamental safety of its products. At the same time, Yili adopts green and eco-friendly logistics, for instance it is equipped with low emission trucks and delivery would be done at night in a short distance., which can alleviate the traffic congestion, save fuel and reduce emissions.

Up to 2010, Yili has paid more than 10 billion Yuan tax on aggregate. The dairy group has been quick in response in natural hazards such as flood in 1998, SARS in 2003, tsunami of Southeast Asia in 2005, snow disaster in early 2008, Wenchuan earthquake, draught in Southwest China in 2010 and Yushu earthquake. From January to September 2011, Yili realized an operating income of 29.201 billion Yuan, up by 24% compared with that of the same period last year. This operation income was equivalent to that of the annual revenue for 2010, stable number 1 in the industry. Key drivers of this growth are the constant development of dairy farms, new production features released from many newly-established plants and the stable growth of high-end products.
Yili takes the lead in upgrade its product portfolio, high-tech and high-valued premium products takes 40% in total sales , milk powder sales makes more and more contribution to operation income.  By 2010, the sales of Yili ice cream and popsicles keeps No.1 position for continuous 17 years. The sales of Ultra High Temperature Sterilized Milk have been among the top in China for years. Since 2005, the sales of Yili milk powder and milk tea powder have been ranked No. 1 position in perspective category.
